P.E. and Sports Premium

What is PE and Sports Premium Funding?

The Primary PE and Sports Premium is funding provided to schools to enhance and expand opportunities for children to participate in high-quality physical education and sport. It is allocated by the Department for Education and is ring-fenced, meaning it must be spent specifically on improving PE and sports provision in schools.

At Weston Turville CE School, we value the role of PE and sport in promoting healthy lifestyles and supporting children’s physical, emotional, and mental development. We believe that engagement in sporting activities helps to build self-confidence, resilience, and self-discipline, while also fostering a positive attitude towards learning.

We are committed to providing all pupils with at least one hour of high-quality PE each week, delivered by trained and confident staff. Our aim is to use the Sports Premium effectively to raise standards in PE and sport, ensuring that every child, regardless of background, has access to engaging physical activity both in lessons and through extra-curricular opportunities.

How Much Funding Will We Receive?

For the academic year 2024–25, Weston Turville CE School received £17,740 in Sports Premium funding.

For the academic year 2025–26, Weston Turville CE School will receive £17,670 in Sports Premium funding.

How We Plan to Use the Funding

Our plans for the Sports Premium include:

  • Enhancing opportunities for physical activity throughout the school day.

  • Improving play provision during break and lunch times.

  • Encouraging children’s engagement with outdoor learning and their environment.

  • Organising interhouse competitions and events to broaden participation and inspire all children to get involved in sport.

Monitoring the Impact of Our Spending

We are required to evaluate the impact of our Sports Premium spending and will do so through regular monitoring and review. This includes feedback from pupils, parents, and staff.

Our PE subject leader monitors participation in lessons, clubs, and inter-school events to ensure all children are actively involved. She works with staff to support professional development, including team-teaching opportunities, to ensure all teachers are confident in delivering high-quality PE.

Governors regularly meet with the PE subject leader to review spending and ensure the Sports Premium is used effectively to promote physical activity and sporting opportunities across the school. This ensures that every child can experience new challenges, develop skills, and achieve success in a variety of activities.
